We’re excited to announce that �� . Advisement Center is now the Blue Devil Achievement Center, a name that reflects our expanded commitment to student success.

Why the Change?

�� has seen record retention rates, including 78.9% for the fall 2023 cohort, thanks to initiatives like enhanced advising, first-year experience programs and cutting-edge student success strategies. The Achievement Center builds on this success by unifying key services to support students academically, personally and professionally.

What Does the Achievement Center Offer?

Peer Mentoring and Coaching: New students are connected with a current Stout student, so they can ask what life “is really like” at college.
Student Success Coaching: Coaches provide proactive, personalized support to help students overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
Tutoring Services: Expanded on-campus and virtual tutoring, so students can get the help they need, when they need it.

JUMPSTART: Scotland

Earn College Credits.

Not only are you going to explore a beautiful new place, but you are also going to be immersed in captivating courses that will count as college credits. Depending on the duration and type of program, you can take anywhere from one class to a full academic year.

The college credits earned can be degree-based or go towards covering your general course credits, including Stout Core credits. Taking courses abroad can improve your GPA, help you get ahead in coursework or provide a learning experience you would not have been able to get anywhere else.

If you are unsure what credits you need when looking for a study abroad program, connect with your academic adviser to help map out your degree plan.

Your polytechnic education starts with 40 foundational credits in communication, critical thinking, ethics, analysis and reasoning.

Create Job Opportunities & Make Connections.

Studying abroad introduces you to many different people from different backgrounds... classmates, professors, community members and more. The experience can help you grow and make connections that could excel your personal and professional future. Through these relationships, you can potentially meet an individual connected to a company that could lead to a job opportunity.

Depending on the program, you can also have an internship, which will give you workforce experience and set you ahead of many who will be entering the applicant pool at the same time as you.

Stand Out on Your Resume.

Companies look for and value candidates who have traveled abroad because they bring different viewpoints that can expand the company. Having study abroad on your resume also shows employers your interest in learning and exploring new cultures, which shows adaptability, a critical skill in the workplace.

You can also use your study abroad experiences to help you answer a few questions during your interview, such as how have you worked in a diverse environment, or what was a challenge you faced when learning something new and how did you overcome it.

Each region of the world has an array of languages and accents. Studying abroad allows you to learn a new language in the origin country rather than in a classroom. No matter if you are looking to test your Spanish or appreciate the Scottish accent, there is a trip for you at ��.

If you are going to travel to a different country where the native language is not English, take a course or two or use one of the many language apps to learn a bit of the language before you travel.

Study abroad will offer you a newfound sense of independence and personal growth. The friendships you make, the different landscapes you get to explore, the food you get to eat and the classes you get to take all will leave a mark on your life. What to do when connecting with potential employers

At Career Services, our goal is to help your student navigate their career and professional development by connecting them with potential employers for internship and career opportunities. And as the spring Career Conference approaches, it ��. time for your student to prepare!

Two things that will be important for your student to work on ahead of time are their resume and networking skills. Networking is simple. You learn about someone and what they do, and then they learn about you and what you do in return. This happens most commonly with people your student already knows, like their peers and professors.

As your student builds their professional connections, here are some simple networking and resume tips:

Networking Tips

Do…

Ask people you know to introduce you to others who may be able to provide you insight into internships or jobs of interest to you. Research the companies or individuals in advance if you can and prepare questions.
Be an active, engaged listener. Listen carefully to the advice and information others share and take notes as appropriate.
Networking is a two-way street. Be prepared to return the favor when someone in your network group asks for assistance.
Share copies of your resume. You want visibility within your field, so you want people to understand what you bring to the table.
Prepare and practice your elevator pitch. What ��. your story? Include three things people must know about you to be memorable. Consider who you are talking to and be relatable. When creating your elevator pitch consider what, who, where, how and results.
Send a thank you note or email to new people you meet. It can make a lasting impression.
Stay in touch with your network periodically to keep a strong connection.

Don’t…

Use slang, poor grammar, be rude or unprofessional with communicating with others.
Forget about the alumni within your major. Reach out via LinkedIn to create connections and leverage their experiences within their industry.
Tell them your life story; you are dealing with busy people, so get right to the point.
Pass up opportunities to network.
Be shy or afraid to ask for what you need.

Writing a Resume

Do…

Customize your resume for the job you are applying for. The person reviewing your resume wants to see a genuine interest in the position. Take time to share how your skills meet their requirements.
Use keywords and industry lingo and include them in your resume when highlighting your experiences and skills. Be relevant.
Write skill statements using the format ACTION VERB + SKILL + TASK/RESULT. Skill statements are essential and quantifying them takes your resume to the next level.
Set up an appointment with a Career Services counselor to review your resume.

Don’t…

Be long-winded. Including the name of your cat or how you won the ugly holiday sweater contest at your brother ��. uncle ��. work party won’t get you the interview.
Neglect spelling, grammar and punctuation errors.
Bedazzle your resume. You want your resume to stand out based on your experiences and skills

Helping your student find their way around if they don't have a car

�� offers a number of sustainable transportation programs to help your student get around campus and Menomonie, for commuting to work off-campus, or for a ride home for the weekend.

Rideshare App

�� Rideshare is a free app that can help your student quickly and securely find carpool partners for daily commutes, trips home for the weekend or for school breaks.

As the app uses destination and schedules to match drivers with riders, the more people who use the app, the more available rideshares appear in your student ��. search.

Local Bus Routes

Dunn County Transit offers students free access with their BlueCard student ID to the StoutRoute Campus Bus, which makes three stops on its route, with an optional stop at Student Health. The Community Bus offers four stops on campus and covers the Menomonie community with stops including two grocery stores, the hospital and Wal-Mart.

The Live Bus Tracker shows where the StoutRoute and Community Route buses are in real-time.

If your student prefers to bike, they can check out our StoutBikes Bike Share program.

Regional Bus Routes

Your student also has a number of regional bus options, and they can book their ticket online:

Badger Bus offers weekend service to Eau Claire, Madison, and Milwaukee. Your student can catch a ride from Walmart in North Menomonie.
Groome Transportation offers service to the MSP airport multiple times each day. Your student can meet their shuttle at the AmericInn Hotel in North Menomonie.

Resources, tips and tricks for your student's scholarship search

Paying for college can feel overwhelming – but scholarships can make a big difference. At ��, supporting students on their path to graduation is a top priority, and each year the �� Foundation awards more than $1.4 million in scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students.

The good news? Applying is simple, and your student could be matched to hundreds of scholarship opportunities with just one application. Look through our entire scholarship database to see which ones might be a great fit for your student.

Foundation Scholarships: One Application, Hundreds of Opportunities

Through the �� Foundation, students can apply for scholarships using our scholarship portal.

Single application: One application qualifies students for any scholarship in our database they’re eligible for.
Automatic matching: Our scholarship portal filters through more than 400 scholarships and automatically applies or prompts students if an additional essay is required.
No letters of recommendation: Just one main essay (a few scholarships may have additional short-answer questions).
Annual process: Students apply each year and can be considered for new opportunities as they progress.
Timeline: Applications are due February 1, 2026, and recipients will be notified by mid-April.

Tip: Students can visit the Writing Center for essay support or attend a scholarship workshop on campus this fall. These resources can strengthen applications.

Encourage your student to start their scholarship application early and submit by the February 1 deadline. With more than $1.4 million awarded each year, Foundation scholarships are an important way to help make a �� education even more affordable.

Multicultural Student Services Grants and Scholarships

On top of Foundation awards, students may also qualify for grants and scholarships through Multicultural Student Services (MSS).

MSS staff are available to answer questions and guide families through these opportunities.

Scholarships for International Students

Scholarships are available to qualified, full-time international students based on their academic achievement, financial need and participation in cultural and community service activities.

International students and families can contact the Office of International Education with any questions. Application deadlines differ for international scholarships.

Don’t Forget External Scholarships

Families are also encouraged to search and apply for external scholarships – local, regional, or national awards outside of ��. These funds can be combined with �� scholarships, providing even more support toward educational costs.

Follow directions and answer questions completely and don’t wait until the last minute to complete your application.
Proofread your application to make sure you don’t have any spelling or grammatical errors. Ask someone else to read it too for helpful feedback.
Don’t get discouraged if you don’t get awarded a scholarship right away. We encourage students to apply every year.

Apply for Financial Aid Complete the FAFSA

Supporting you in understanding and navigating the financial side of attending college.

We're Here to Help Students & Families

At ��'s Financial Aid Office, we pride ourselves in providing premier service to our students and their families. We understand that many people cannot meet all the costs of college, so we strive to meet the financial needs of all our students. 75% of first-year, full-time �� undergraduates receive some form of financial support, with the average financial aid package totaling over $11,200.

Complete the FAFSA

IMPORTANT DATES

Now	FAFSA is available online . FAFSA School Code: 003915
March 6	Summer Financial Aid Application will be available when summer registration begins.
March 15	��'s priority filing date for the FAFSA.
April 15	Tax deadline with the IRS. Keep copies of your tax documents, which may be needed by the Financial Aid Office.
Late May	Financial aid recipients undergo what is called Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). Generally, this means that financial aid recipients must complete at least 67% of all credits attempted and maintain at least a 2.0 GPA.
May, June, July	New Direct Stafford loan borrowers must complete entrance counseling online.
Early August	Billing notices for fall are emailed from Student Business Services.
Early September	Credits and refunds: Fall financial aid is credited to your account and any remaining funds after these charges are paid will be returned to the student in the form of a refund. Refunds will be automatically sent to student's bank account unless specified otherwise.
October 15	Winterm Financial Aid Application will be available when winterm registration begins. Stout Foundation Scholarship Application is available from mid October through the first Monday in February.
Early December	2024-2025 FAFSA should be available online soon. FAFSA School Code: 003915
Late December	Satisfactory Academic Progress is measured and warning letters are sent to financial aid recipients who fail to complete 67% of all credits attempted or maintain a 2.0 GPA.

Helpful Hints

Apply Early
Completing your applications accurately and submitting them early will ensure full consideration for all aid programs available. If you apply early and have problems, contact a counselor right away. If you apply late and have problems, there may not be enough time to address the problems before school starts.

File Tax Returns Early
File your federal tax returns with the IRS as early as possible so that you can successfully use the IRS Data Retrieval when completing your FAFSA. If you estimate your tax information on the FAFSA, your application will likely be delayed until actual tax information can be provided.

Do Not Leave Blanks
Never leave questions blank on any form you submit if you are required to complete it. Blank questions will only delay your application's processing.

Keep Copies
Retain photocopies of all forms and correspondence you submit with the dates they were submitted. Refer to them when inquiring about your application.

Use Your Full Given Name

Use Your Correct Social Security Number
When you file your FAFSA, check and double check to make sure that you've entered the correct Social Security Number for yourself and for parents, if applicable. A FAFSA that is filed with an incorrect student SSN will have to be completely redone, SSN cannot be corrected on the original FAFSA. Also, please make sure that you enter the correct date of birth.

Read And Respond
Carefully read and follow all instructions provided. Respond quickly to all requests from our office. Even if your federal application is received by the priority date, you will not receive an award if your file is incomplete when award offers are made.

Take Responsibility
You are applying for financial aid to help you attend ��. Although you may need your parents' help in completing your forms, the application forms are yours and you need to know what forms and information have been provided to whom and when.

Where can I get the forms I need for financial aid?
Visit our Forms and Applications web page for current forms and more information. There are paper copies of these forms available in our office in Room 210, Bowman Hall.

How do I know if I am considered a dependent or an independent student for financial aid purposes?
There are thirteen questions on the FAFSA which you must answer to determine your dependency status for financial aid purposes. Keep in mind that your dependency status for financial aid purposes is not based upon the IRS tax filing criteria but is based solely on your responses to the dependency status questions outlined on the FAFSA.

What is verification? Does it mean I did something wrong on the FAFSA?
Verification is the process whereby we review the information you reported on your FAFSA and compare the figures to your and/or your parents' tax returns. The Federal Processor selects about 30% of our financial aid applicants to be verified. It does not mean that you made a mistake or that you are suspected of mis-reporting. It simply means that you were picked as part of a sample to be reviewed. If your file is chosen to be verified, it is important for you to submit any requested documents as quickly as possible. Financial aid cannot be offered to you until verification has been completed.

If I was selected to be verified last year, does that mean I will also be selected this year?
Not necessarily. You will know when you receive your Student Aid Report each year if you have been selected to be verified.

I applied for and received financial aid last year. I haven't received any this year. Why?
You must reapply for financial aid each year.

I plan to attend during the summer term, but when I got my award letter, it only shows an award for fall and spring semesters. Why?
Financial aid for summer is awarded separately. Generally, we offer your maximum eligibility for fall/spring. If you plan to attend summer term and accept all the aid offered to you for fall/spring, you may have no remaining eligibility left for summer. You must submit a Summer or Winterm Financial Aid application to be reviewed for aid eligibility for those terms.

I received an email that says I haven't made Satisfactory Academic Progress. What should I do?
If you have been notified by our office that you are not making Satisfactory Academic Progress and you feel that there are extenuating circumstances that you wish us to consider, you must send an appeal letter in writing to our office.

What are the minimum required credit hours to receive aid?
For most grants and scholarships, full time enrollment (12 semester hours) is required. For most loans, half-time enrollment (6 hours for undergraduates, 5 hours for graduates) is required.

I want to drop a class. How will it affect my financial aid?
If you resign or drop below full-time status, you may have to repay all or part of your loans and/or grants. Contact your Academic Advisor or the Financial Aid Office before you decide to drop a class or resign completely.

I'm a graduate student at the Research/Dissertation level. Can I receive financial aid?
Graduate students working on thesis/dissertation must register for the half-time academic credit load to be eligible for Federal Loans.

Billing & Refund Questions

When can I expect to receive a bill from �� for tuition/housing?
Billing statements are typically sent via email one to two weeks prior to the start of the term. Continue to check your Bill in Access Stout as it may change if you add or drop classes, incur fees, or aid is applied to your account. If your financial aid as shown on your bill is not enough to cover the amount due, you must pay the difference through alternative means.

What address are my bills mailed to? My financial aid documents? My refund checks?
Paper bills are NOT mailed, emails are sent with billing notices. The majority of financial aid correspondence is sent via email. Refund checks can be direct deposited, please provide your bank account information for Direct Deposit on the Student Services Center page of Access Stout. If no E-Refund is set up, a mailed check will process. For additional information regarding your refund visit the Refund Page.

Can I pick up my refund check instead of having it mailed?
No, you cannot pick up a check in person. Direct Deposit of refunds is available.

My award letter says I'm entitled to $3000 in Federal Work Study, but it does not show up on my bill. Why?
Some types of financial aid reflected on your award letter are not disbursed to your student account. Federal Work Study aid is an example. These funds must be earned through on-campus employment in the form of a bi-weekly paycheck. If you do not see Work Study on your award, inquire with Financial Aid to see if you may be eligible.

When will my financial aid apply to my bill?
During the second week of school, The Financial Aid Office will push accepted and received aid to the student's account. This process is completed daily until the term has ended.

Student Loan Questions

What is a Subsidized vs Unsubsidized Stafford Loan?
Subsidized Stafford Loans are need-based and interest-free while you are in school. Unsubsidized Stafford Loans are non-need based and interest-bearing loans, therefore interest will accrue while you are in school and will be added to the principal when repayment begins (unless you choose to may interest payments while in school).

Am I required to do an Entrance Counseling? How and where?
Yes, the Entrance Counseling for new borrowers is a requirement for student loans. You may complete the process on the Direct Loan site.

Am I required to ESign a Master Promissory Note (MPN)?
Yes, by completing and ESigning your MPN, you are promising to repay all student loans made under this note. You may have to sign only one MPN for the life of your student loan. An MPN expires ten years after the note is signed. An MPN is revoked if the first disbursement is not made within one year.

Can I get an outside loan to pay my remaining bill?
Yes, you can apply for an alternative or private academic loan to cover the remaining bill, as long as received aid does not exceed the Cost of Attendance.

What are my Direct Loan repayment options?
There are several repayment plans available. Please visit Studentaid.gov for information about repayment plans and a repayment calculator.

Can my parent receive a Direct Loan?
Parents of dependent students who wish to borrow a Parent PLUS Loan should refer to the Forms and Documents page for the Direct PLUS Loan Application. Instructions are included on the form.

How and when do I complete a Direct Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN)?
You should complete a Direct Loan Master Promissory Note as soon as possible if you plan to borrow a Subsidized or Unsubsidized Loan.

Do I have to complete Direct Loan Entrance Counseling each year?
No, you will not be required to complete Entrance Counseling each year if you have already completed the requirement. New borrowers are required to complete Direct Loan Entrance Counseling.

Are there deferments Available?
If you meet certain requirements, you may receive a deferment that allows you to temporarily stop making payments on your loan. If you cannot make your scheduled loan payments, but do not qualify for a deferment, you may get a forbearance. A forbearance allows you to temporarily stop making payments on your loan, temporarily make smaller payments, or extend the time for making payments. Contact your Loan Servicer for eligibility.

Will I be able to consolidate all of my loans after graduation?
Yes, please contact the US Department of Education about your Loan Consolidation options.

Where can I go to consolidate my loans if I have more than one lender?
After graduation, you have a choice. You may either make individual payments to your previous lender(s) and to the Department of Education for your Direct Loans or you can consolidate your loans into one simple payment. You may explore your options, as discussed above with the Federal Direct Loan Consolidation Program.

Once a loan is consolidated, you cannot undo the consolidation.

How do I contact the Direct Loan Program?

FSA ID: A Federal Student Aid ID (FSAID) is required in order to login to federal sites.
Master Promissory Note: A Direct MPN is required of all Direct Loan borrowers.
Entrance Counseling: Federal Direct Entrance Counseling is required for new borrowers who have not already completed Entrance Counseling.
Account Information: Online billing information.
Loan Consolidation: Consolidate your FFELP loans with your Direct Loans when you graduate if desired.

Award Letter Questions

What is my estimated cost of attendance?
The estimated cost of attendance (COA) is the estimate of what it will cost to attend �� and live in Menomonie for the academic year. This figure consists of estimated tuition, books, room/board, personal, and transportation costs. Items could be higher or lower than our estimates depending on personal spending habits.

What is "Student Aid Index" (SAI)?
Student Aid Index is the indicator of how much you and your family are expected to contribute to your education. The Federal Processor calculates your EFC based on the data that you provide on the federal aid application (FAFSA). We use the SAI, among other factors, to determine how much and what types of aid that you qualify for.

What are "outside resources"?
Outside resources include other aid sources that either you have reported to us or we have identified on your student billing statement. These resources include but are not limited to fee waivers, outside scholarships or loans, WI GI Bill, or other third party contracts..

What is "financial need"?
Financial need is the defined as the disparity between the cost of attendance (COA) for your education and the financial contribution expected from your family, known as the Expected Family Contribution (EFC), as per the SAI (Student Aid Index). The formula is: COA minus SAI minus other aid = Financial Need. The need amount represents the limit of your eligibility to participate in need based programs which include grants, Subsidized Stafford Loans, Perkins Loans, and Federal Work Study. If your calculated need is 0, you may qualify for non-need based aid such as Unsubsidized Federal Loans and/or Federal Parent PLUS Loans.

What is "unmet need"?
Unmet need is the amount of need that we cannot meet from need based aid programs. Unmet need = Need minus need-based aid. You may have unmet need after being awarded the maximum limits you qualify for in need based programs.

How much will my family and I be expected to pay (excluding financial aid) for my education over the course of the school year?
The amount the student and/or family can expect to pay for tuition, books, room/board, personal, transportation = estimated cost of attendance minus total aid. In most cases, students do not receive enough aid to cover the full COA. Parent Loans and alternative loans are available to make up the difference.

If my parent is approved for a PLUS Loan (credit check is required) how much can they borrow?
A parent of a dependent undergraduate student can borrow the amount of estimated cost of attendance minus total aid that the student expects to receive.

Unique Circumstance Questions

My family has unusual circumstances. How do I report that?

There will be no place to report unusual circumstances on the FAFSA. Do not include any written narratives or other documentation with the FAFSA. The Financial Aid Office has the ability to take into consideration recent loss of income, death of a family member, divorce or economic disaster. If a family feels that they have unusual circumstances that may affect the student's financial aid eligibility, please contact our office directly to discuss appropriate action: e-mail finaid1@uwstout.edu or call 715-232-1363.

What if my Parents/ Guardians are separated or divorced?

For students whose parents are divorced or separated, the Custodial Parent on your FAFSA will be the parent who provides you with the most financial support and will no longer be the parent with whom you lived with the most over the past 12 months.

If your Parents/ Guardians are separated but not legally divorced, reach out to our office so we can assist you on ensuring the appropriate information is being reflected on the FAFSA.

Helping your student connect their education to their future career

As students are relaxing and catching up on sleep over break, offices on campus are posting new jobs on Handshake, an online portal where students can find on-campus and full-time professional positions, as well as internships and co-ops.

During the school year, our team at Career Services knows your student is using their time to work on projects, do homework and study. If they’re looking for some extra financial support or want to get involved in a specific area on campus for professional experience, we encourage them to consider an on-campus job.

Our on-campus jobs know that your student is a student first, so they’re more than willing to offer flexibility with class and extracurricular schedules. By working on campus, your student can:

Make new friends
Walk or bike to work
Work or conduct research with faculty
Use work-study dollars from a financial aid package

They can work in so many departments, from Dining and Housing to the University Library, give tours with the Admissions office, help their peers at the IT HelpDesk or Student Business Services and more. Your student may also find on-campus jobs in these departments in CONNECT, our campus involvement app.

Take an on-campus job to the next level by looking for roles that are part of the Grow, Persist, Succeed Program, which connects the position to career development. Through intentional skill-building, students will identify and reflect on the career competencies employers are looking for and explore career paths.

Handshake isn’t just a place to search for on-campus jobs, though. It ��. also used by companies to post internships and full-time job openings. More than 200,000 employers, including Fortune 500 companies, use Handshake to post jobs and network with students and alumni.

Handshake offers a single login portal for your student and employers, as well as personalized job recommendations based on your student ��. major, interests and more! It's also where students can view employers who will be recruiting at our Spring and Fall Career Conferences, attended by more than 300 regional and national employers.

If your student is close to graduating or needing a co-op/internship, make sure they check Handshake for opportunities. �� alumni also have access to the platform.

Your student can optimize their Handshake profile by meeting with a career coach. They can schedule a virtual or in-person appointment on Handshake, by emailing careerservices@uwstout.edu, or calling 715-232-1601.

Small Tips for Starting a Conversation

Over winter break, encourage your student to talk to you about how the semester went, how they coped with a new or busy schedule and what goals they have for next semester.

Encouraging your student to talk about how the semester went is a healthy way to also discuss their mental health. Maybe your student struggled with worries around meeting new friends, test anxiety or potentially seasonal depression. Talking with your student about any of these topics can be beneficial, even if the conversation is stressful.

A Safe and Comfortable Place

Mental health is something that we all have, though it can feel challenging sometimes to bring up in conversation. If you decide to ask your student about how their semester went, it ��. always helpful to talk in a safe, private and comfortable environment. That may include a common space like the living room, your student ��. room, the car on the way home from college. Whatever feels comfortable for your student.

Asking them where they want to talk is the first step. From there, it's best to ask open-ended questions so your student is encouraged to expand on their thoughts. Some examples to consider: How was college this semester? What did you enjoy the most? What did you struggle with? What are your friends like there? How do you feel about your major? What new experiences did you have? Talk about the good and the bad.

Encourage your student to talk about their social life, classes, relationships, or living in the dorms. But also ask the tougher questions about their emotions and what they may be struggling with.
Show interest in what your child is sharing and ask more questions. Be excited for them or nervous with them.
Most often, they aren't looking for advice. They want to feel heard and validated. But ask them if they would like you to offer any advice. Then, you know what to provide to be supportive and helpful in that moment.
Understand that everyone will experience ups and downs, good times and hard times. This is a normal human experience. Allow them to experience those things with your support.

Remember, your student is typically looking to feel heard and understood. Actively listening to them and supporting them is usually what they need after completing a long and stressful semester. You can ask them if they would like you to offer any advice.

Caring for Your Well-Being Remotely & in Person

The Student Counseling Center is offering both in-person counseling and tele-counseling appointments using Microsoft Teams for students residing in Wisconsin. All initial appointments will be completed using tele-counseling. If you live out of state and are seeking services, you may contact the office and schedule a telephone consultation for help in locating counseling resources near you.

If you are in need of a private space to attend a tele-counseling appointment, you can use one of the following options:

The campus library has a variety of rooms that you can reserve for up to 2 hours a day

There are three ways that you can schedule an appointment, outlined below. For online scheduling, please ensure you are choosing the correct link. If you are unsure which link is correct or if what you need is not described here (i.e. crisis appointment, alcohol and other drug education services, couples therapy, etc), then please use option 1 or 2 below for scheduling.

Schedule online by choosing the correct link below. Please note that only the types of appointments described below can be scheduled online. If you need a different type of appointment or there are no openings showing, please use option 1 or 2. All appointments scheduled online will be confirmed by office staff.
- For initial triage appointments go here. This means that you have either never been to our center for counseling before or that you have not been to our center yet this academic year and you want to change counselors. If you would like to work with the same counselor you saw in a previous academic year, please call or stop up to schedule.
- For ongoing, individual counseling go here. This means that you are established with an individual counselor already and have attended an appointment with them since July 1 of the current academic year. You will need to know the name of your counselor to schedule.

Mantra Health: Telecounseling & Telepsychiatry

The Student Counseling Center has partnered with Mantra Health to increase the availability of counseling resources to our students. Mantra counselors provide free, short-term therapy to enrolled students for whom telecounseling is appropriate. If you have bipolar disorder, disordered eating, substance use problems, or active thoughts of harming yourself or others, please start with an assessment in our office to find out if telehealth is right for you. Students will need to be referred by a clinician in our office or through Mantra's telecounseling services for telepsychiatry (mental health medication management).

By enrolling in Mantra counseling, you can connect virtually to licensed therapists to address your unique needs during daytime, evenings, or weekend hours.

Here is a step-by-step guide to sign-up through self-referral:

Go to the Mantra Health Hub
Create your account by clicking "Sign Up" using your �� email address.
Complete the onboarding tasks in your Patient Portal, which takes about 10 minutes, and schedule your first appointment.
Join your first scheduled appointment with your therapist through the Mantra Patient Portal.

YOU: Self-Help & Well-Being Web Platform

YOU is a self-help and well-being platform. YOU helps students navigate life and campus on their terms with independent goal setting, skill building, assessments, and evidence-based content on a large variety well-being topics.

Through this web based application students can also connect with a 24/7 mental health crisis service available via call, text, or chat. Students can also connect to Mantra telecounseling services which are available during the day, evenings, and on weekends.

Togetherall: Student Support Community

Togetherall is a peer-to-peer mental health support community which is available online, 24/7, and is completely anonymous so you can express yourself freely and openly. Licensed and registered mental health practitioners, called Wall Guides, monitor the community to ensure the safety and anonymity of all members.

In addition to Togetherall's online community, you will have access to a wealth of useful resources and can work through tailored self-help courses covering topics such as anxiety, sleep, depression and many more.

Interpersonal Process Groups (Spring 2026)

These groups meet weekly and are a great way to connect with other students and feel less alone. Common concerns that students join IP groups to work on include depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, self-esteem, stress, academic concerns, adjustment to new environment and experiences, etc. To participate, students need to schedule a 30-minute group screening by calling or stopping into our office.

Wednesdays: Interpersonal Process Group (IP) 2:30-4:00pm

Transferring Care

To transfer your care to one of our licensed and trained counselors, please have your current mental health practitioner send your treatment summary to the Counseling Center for review and processing.

An initial appointment will be scheduled to discuss care needs, answer questions about services, and complete any forms to ensure records are current. Subsequent appointments can be made following the initial appointment.

And the results are in! "Women's Flag Football Champions" is this year's winner (pictured above and below), followed by a close second place, "A Walk Past Harvey Hall," with just one vote separating the two!

We lead and implement marketing communications, strategies and research to help drive ��'s enrollment, partnerships, and fundraising initiatives.  

Marketing Communications (MarCom) works collaboratively across campus to lead campus-wide marketing strategies through:

Development and implementation of strategic marketing plans and campaigns that support a wide variety of campus goals
Oversight of branding guidelines, imagery, and our internet presence
Engagement of students, donors, and partners through the effective implementation of story-telling via news stories, web, publications, email campaigns, advertising, social media, and video
Data and research to help inform strategic decision-making
Leadership, education, and outreach with various campus committees and constituencies
