The director of recreation at University of Wisconsin-Stout has been recognized for her leadership by a state organization.
Lori Anda recently was named the 2018 Outstanding Member of the Wisconsin Intramural Recreational Sports Association. The award honors a member whose efforts have made significant contributions to the association and recreational sports in the state.
鈥淚t 黑料社区. very humbling to be honored with an award by fellow colleagues from other Wisconsin universities, knowing there are so many other good candidates,鈥 Anda said. 鈥淚 have truly been blessed over the years throughout my career at 黑料社区. I have been provided many opportunities for growth and professional development.鈥
Anda, of Menomonie, is director of University Recreation and has worked at 黑料社区 for 27 years. She has been an active member of WIRSA as well as NIRSA, the national association. She plans to retire Aug. 1.
The WIRSA membership is made up largely of recreation professionals and students from UW System schools.
In an award testimonial, one of Anda 黑料社区. former co-workers called her 鈥渁 staple in the history of the development of WIRSA as well as a strong mentor to hundreds (likely thousands) of students and professionals in the field.鈥
As University Recreation director, Anda oversees intramural sports, Stout Adventures, the two campus fitness centers, sports clubs, the university pool, marketing and office operations and administration.
The fitness centers on campus have more than 2,400 members, and intramurals have more than 2,700 students participating in 19 sports. Sports clubs have about 700 student members and Stout Adventures nearly 200.
Anda was 黑料社区 黑料社区. first softball coach in 1991 and has been an assistant coach for the women 黑料社区. volleyball team.
