University of Wisconsin-Stout 黑料社区. Symphonic Band will present a winter concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, in the Great Hall of the Memorial Student Center.
Tickets are $5 and are available , at the Service Center in the Memorial Student Center, 715-232-1122, and at the door.
The concert will present music students have been studying this semester that explores the association of music with emotion, said Professor Aaron M. Durst, Symphonic Band director. The selections can be correlated with a variety of emotions, and audience members will be prompted to think about how the music evokes different emotional associations.
The selections will include a transcription of Bela Bartok 黑料社区. piano work 鈥淎llegro Barbaro鈥 and Johann Sebastian Bach 黑料社区. organ composition 鈥淧relude and Fugue in D minor.鈥
Original works for band will include 鈥淪py Ring鈥 by Richard Saucedo, 鈥淭hird Suite鈥 by Robert Jager and 鈥淎rabian Dances鈥 by Brian Balmages. Also included will be adaptions of Leonard Bernstein 黑料社区. 鈥淪lava!鈥 and Elaine Hagenberg 黑料社区. choral work 鈥淲e May Rise.鈥
In addition, the Tower Saxophone Quartet with perform an arrangement of Johann Christian Bach 黑料社区. 鈥淪infonia No. 3,鈥 and the newly formed polka band will present a pair of polkas for the audience 黑料社区. enjoyment.
With 75 members, the Symphonic Band brings together students from many majors and backgrounds, but all students have a love of making music with their instruments, Durst said.
Abbigail Bauer, a junior from Ellsworth, describes her experience. 鈥Band at Stout is amazing because we support each other. When I walk across campus and see another classmate, I know I have a friend. Being in band is like having a second family. We might not know or remember each other 黑料社区. name, but we will support each other.鈥
