Fourteen students have been named University of Wisconsin-Stout ambassadors for the 2019-2020 academic year.
The Stout Ambassadors program, in its fourth year, gives students opportunities to engage with alumni, corporations and campus leadership. Ambassadors are required to represent the student body by attending homecoming events, many alumni events and two campus career conferences. They also have a special breakfast as a group with the chancellor during the year.
ºÚÁÏÉçÇø homecoming is Saturday, Oct. 5. The ambassadors will kick off their year Saturday morning by helping welcome alumni back to campus and walking with the chancellor ºÚÁÏÉçÇø. unit in the parade, which begins at 11 a.m.
The ambassadors, their hometowns, years in school and majors are:
Samantha Bibbs, of Mankato, Minn., senior, food science and technology- Afton Fischer, of Menomonie, senior, family and consumer sciences education
- Alexa Gravunder, of Wautoma, sophomore, supply chain management
- Jack Hoaby, of Maple Lake, Minn., senior, applied science
- Tiffany Johnson, of Suring, junior, criminal justice and rehabilitation
- Abrina Leonhard, of Gleason, senior, business administration
- Madalaine McConville, of Augusta, senior, applied social science
- Natasha Rassbach, of Downing, senior, early childhood education
- Megan Southwick, of Mukwonago, senior, game design and development
- Kallie Taylor, of Forest Lake, Minn., senior, interior design, business administration
- Jake Thomas, of Northfield, Minn., junior, engineering technology
- Sarah Webber, of Rice Lake, sophomore, packaging
- Jessica Weber, of Verona, senior, applied mathematics and computer science
- Samantha Ziwicki, of Clearwater, Minn., senior, golf enterprise management
Six of the 14 were chosen for the second straight year: Fischer, Hoaby, Johnson, Rassbach, Weber and Ziwicki.
In addition to representing 14 academic majors, the ambassadors have been involved in a variety of student organizations and activities. They include: Stout Student Association, Admissions, athletics, study abroad, Writing Center, Figure Skating Club, first-year orientation, women ºÚÁÏÉçÇø. rugby, fraternities and sororities.
The ambassadors program is a collaborative project with the Involvement Center and the Alumni Association.
To become ambassadors, students had to fill out an application and be interviewed. Criteria for eligibility includes having a grade-point average of at least 3.0, taking at least six class credits and being available for mandatory events. Applicants also must answer three essay questions and provide a resume.
