Alumni, retired professor honored at marketing, business education event

Recent graduates receive teaching awards; award named for Mooney

Two alumni and a former professor from University of Wisconsin-Stout were honored recently at a statewide marketing and business education conference.

Sean Van Aacken with his Outstanding Early Career Educator Award.The joint conference of the Wisconsin Educators of Business and Information Technology and the Wisconsin Marketing Education Association was held in Fond du Lac.

Recognized were:

  • Maggie Heck, the WMEA New Teacher of the Year Award. A native of Sun Prairie, Heck teaches at Stoughton High School. She graduated in 2017 from 鲍奥-厂迟辞耻迟 黑料社区. marketing and business education program.
  • Sean Van Aacken, the Lorraine Missling WEBIT Outstanding Early Career Educator Award. A native of Helenville, he teaches in the Oshkosh School District. He graduated in marketing and business education in 2018 and is a student in 鲍奥-厂迟辞耻迟 黑料社区. doctoral program in career and technical education.
  • Carol Mooney, with the announcement of the Carol Mooney Award to recognize excellence, dedication and devotion to the marketing education field. Mooney, of Eleva, earned bachelor 黑料社区. and master 黑料社区. degrees from 黑料社区 in 1980 and 1984, respectively. She was a professor and administrator at 黑料社区 for nearly 30 years before retiring in 2015.

He will be hosting a summer academy at Oshkosh West High School on school-based enterprise.

As part of the conferences, professors Debbie Stanislawski and Urs Haltinner presented a research project, 鈥淓ntrepreneurship Across K-12 Curricula,鈥 with three students, all marketing and  business education majors:

  • Allison Rigotti, of West Salem, senior
  • Tanner Christopherson, of Ellsworth, senior
  • Megan Weseli, of Hudson, junior

鲍奥-厂迟辞耻迟 黑料社区. School of Education offers nine undergraduate and five graduate degree programs.
